'Bombay Velvet' will be out of this world, says Raveena

Labels: Movies
Raveena Tandon is set to shoot for Anurag Kashyap's "Bombay Velvet" in which she has a small role. After seeing some portions of the partially-shot movie, the actress terms it as "out of the world".

"I have signed two films with Anurag's production house. Anurag's films are such that I just could not say no," the 38-year-old said here Thursday at the launch of Colors jewellery line by Waman Hari Pethe jewellers.

"I saw whatever little has been shot of 'Bombay Velvet', I don't have a very big role. It's a small role that I am playing alongside Karan (Johar).

"But the film is out of the world and it is something I will be very proud being a part of. Anurag's next film (second) will be challenging for me as an actor," she added.

"Bombay Velvet" stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, while filmmaker Karan Johar will be seen in a negative role in it.

Raveena, who was seen in "Buddah Hoga Terra Baap", says she is taking on less work as she wants to focus on her family.

"I am intentionally taking on less work because I am busy with my kids. I try to do a proper balance. If I take on a lot of work then I won't be left with any time for my home," she said.

Aamir returned cousin Mansoor Khan's favour

Aamir Khan made it big with his cousin Mansoor Khan's debut film `Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak` and the actor-producer returned the favour Friday by hosting the launch of his debut book `The Third Curve` here.

"Mansoor had been deeply engrossed in something for the past 10 years or so and he wouldn't tell me what it was... He has been a huge influence on me, and I sincerely believe he is one of the brightest minds I know,` a casual and relaxed-looking Aamir said at the launch here.

`When he told me what he was busy doing, it blew my mind,` added the 48-year-old.

Mansoor, son of late filmmaker Nasir Hussain, has himself directed four films - `Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak`, `Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander`, `Akele Hum Akele Tum` and `Josh`. But his book `The Third Curve` has nothing to do with cinema.

An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technolgy Mumbai, Cornell University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mansoor is now settled in Coonoor, and has an organic farm. His book examines the co-relation between the compulsions of economic growth and the limits imposed on man by nature.

His book was launched by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Najma Heptullah.

Mansoor gave an analytical preview to his book through a presentation. The audience heard his understanding of how money and energy are co-related, and how, `the only currency in the universe is energy, while money is a token`.

He evoked a volley of questions from the audience, which comprised economists and names like Sunanda Pushkar and cricketer-turned-MP Mohammad Azharuddin.

Aamir heard the discussions with rapt attention, and during the presentation, he plonked himself on the side of the podium to immerse himself in his cousin's economic talk.

`I get depressed and it is very worrying,` Aamir said after Mansoor presented startling facts on how in the desire of exponential growth in money, the world is losing out on essential natural resources of energy.

Sanjay Dutt Has Lost 17 Kgs!

Sanjay Dutt is out of jail and back home at his Pali Hill Residence in Mumbai on a 14-day parole. A close friend who met the incarcerated actor says Dutt has lost 17 kgs in jail!

Says Dutt's pal, `He has not looked so fit in years. Sanju is almost looking the way he did when he started his career in Rocky. If this is what jail does for you I suggest all actors spend some time in there. Jokes aside I'd love to see Sanju in an action film right now.`

On Monday October 7 Sanjay Dutt and wife Maanyata hosted a Maata Ki Chowki at their residence in Pali Hill.

It was attended by the couple's close friends. The guest list included T Series' head honcho Bhushan Kumar, Eros' Sunil and Krushika Lulla, actress Sophie Chowdhary, Bunty Wallia, Apoorva Lakhia and Dutt's brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav with his wife and children.

Says one of the guests at the Maata Ki Chowki, `It was a very intimate prayer meeting. Unlike the other Maata Ki Chowkis at the Dutts' residence which are held in their home's compound this time it was held inside their home, so the singing and chanting was ear-splitting.`
`He spoke a bit to all his guests. But just pleasantries. I wanted to ask him what it was like inside , and how he was coping. But there was no opportunity. I think he's coping with jail very well. He'll come out stronger, fitter. And there will be no stopping him.`

Ratan Rajput reveals the game playing tactics being used in the 'Bigg Boss' house

New Delhi: TV star Ratan Rajput, who became the fourth contestant to get evicted from reality show `Bigg Boss`, is relieved to be out of the house after 28 days as she was finding it hard to survive the politics between the inmates.

The actress says she overestimated her strength but staying in `Bigg Boss` has taught her that she can`t handle fake people and indulge in politics.

"People there had come with a plan. It was uncomfortable for me to stay there because 14 strange people were thrown together and you cannot trust anyone because there are groups. Also, there was a class system as some people (I don`t want to name them) would think they were special because they came from a film family.

"But, I think everyone was equal there as we all were the part of same show. It is not like they were participating in Big Brother," Ratan said in her post exit interview.

Ratan, however, is happy that despite so many fights within the house, she did not face any misbehaviour from anyone, though she is aware that people may have talked badly behind her back.

The actress, who found fame on TV with `Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo` and her `Swayamvar` on TV and subsequent break-up, said she is not a bad person and not very dramatic so when things became difficult for her, she became quiet, which may have been a reason for her exit.

When asked about the new romance between Tanisha and Armaan Kohli, Ratan quipped, "I think they are inspired by Gauhar and Kushal. But Gauhar and Kushal are definitely more than good friends."

She also believes that Armaan, who is gaining the reputation of a bully thanks to his frequent outbursts, is a strong player but Ratan says he and Tanisha are giving everything to stay on top of the game.
Ratan likes the way Kushal is playing the game, which she says is clean as he does not go and gossip about people behind their back. She also finds Gauhar a strong player and wants Shilpa to be among the finalists as she had come to like her.

Andy is another player that Ratan liked.

"I could not understand Andy in the beginning. He is very nice to you but behind your back he will not spare you. However, he would not lie to you and tell you upfront that I said this about you. Once, I understood that, I became friends with him," Ratan said.

As far as Kamya Punjabi, who nominated Ratan, is concerned, Ratan believes that she is bold but not in front of Armaan. Ratan finds Pratusha Banerjee to be a good player because she manages to stay out of things by playing the innocent card.

Asked about her future plan, the actress said, "Right now, I want to stay with my family. I was very scared after I came out of the show as I would feel that cameras are still following me. I need some time to relax.

"I just can`t stop crying, it is such a relief. I decided to participate in the show as I had declined it twice earlier and though there is nothing wrong with the show, the format was too tough for me," she said.
